Gehyra

Building Australia's Pioneer Natural Hydrogen Brand from Ground Zero

Introduction

When Gehyra approached us with their pioneering natural hydrogen exploration portfolio - spanning an impressive 110,000 km² across Australia - they needed more than just a brand identity. They needed a strategic partner who could translate complex technical excellence into compelling communications for multiple stakeholders, setting the foundation for their pre-IPO journey. Working closely with their team of technical experts, including Australia's first PhD candidate in natural hydrogen, we developed a comprehensive brand and marketing strategy that positioned them distinctively in this emerging sector.

The Situation

In mid-2024, Gehyra approached Gilligan Group at a pivotal moment in their journey.
As one of Australia’s pioneering natural hydrogen exploration companies, they held fifteen license applications across South Australia through their subsidiaries, making them one of the largest portfolios for natural hydrogen exploration in Australia. Their technical team, led by Australia’s first PhD candidate in natural hydrogen, brought unparalleled expertise to the sector.

However, they faced a unique challenge. Natural hydrogen exploration is an emerging industry, often misunderstood and frequently confused with manufactured hydrogen.

They needed to establish credibility with investors while differentiating themselves from both traditional oil and gas companies and manufactured hydrogen producers.

They also needed to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholder groups, from traditional landowners to regulatory bodies.

Our Approach

We began by immersing ourselves in their world.

Through comprehensive workshops with the Gehyra leadership team, we gained deep insights into their technical expertise and strategic vision.

What emerged was a story of true pioneers – not just in exploration, but in advancing the scientific understanding of natural hydrogen.

Our strategy focused on three key areas:

Messaging Strategy – Brand Narrative

We developed a messaging strategy and framework that clearly differentiated natural hydrogen from manufactured forms while positioning Gehyra as “an exploration company run by explorers.”

This framework addressed specific stakeholder needs – from investors seeking technical credibility to traditional landowners concerned about environmental impact.

Brand Identity

We created a comprehensive brand identity system that brought professionalism and clarity to their communications.

This included everything from PowerPoint templates for investor presentations to Project Location Maps that showcased their strategic portfolio. We developed ASX announcement templates and quarterly report formats, ensuring consistency across all corporate communications.

IPO Website Design

We planned their digital presence, including a website strategy for the pre-IPO phase and professional corporate profiles on LinkedIn and Twitter.

This digital foundation was designed to establish their thought leadership in the natural hydrogen space as well as host investor documentation.

Results and Outcomes

Our partnership with Gehyra resulted in a comprehensive brand and communication platform that positions them strongly for their pre-IPO journey.

Their new identity system brings clarity and professionalism to their communications, while their messaging framework helps them engage effectively with different stakeholder groups.

Perhaps most importantly, we helped establish a clear differentiation between natural hydrogen and manufactured forms, positioning Gehyra as true pioneers in this emerging sector.

Their technical expertise now shines through in every communication, building credibility with investors while remaining accessible to broader audiences.

Our Ongoing Partnership

We continue to support Gehyra as their marketing partner, helping them navigate the complexities of stakeholder communications as they progress toward IPO.

This includes regular refinement of their investor materials and strategic advice on market positioning.
