The Situation

FG Gold is a privately-owned gold explorer and developer, whose flagship Baomahun Gold Project is set to be Sierra Leone’s first large-scale commercial gold mine.

The company has made tremendous progress on its project – with promising drill results poised to make the asset one of Africa’s largest gold development projects. With a local-first approach, the company has delivered tangible and sustainable benefits for its host community, improving economic and social wellbeing through local employment and investment in community development projects.

Eager to communicate its progress and showcase its environmental, social and governance (ESG) credentials to investors and stakeholders, the company approached Gilligan Group to assist with preparing a new brand to anchor its investor communications materials and new digital assets – including a new website.

Our Approach

Gilligan Group began working with FG Gold in 2021, initially supporting the development of the company’s investor presentation communicating its key value propositions to investors and financial institutions – helping the company successfully gain financing critical to advancing its project.

In 2022, the company re-engaged Gilligan Group to develop a website and digital strategy to showcase its progress and establish a strong digital identity. Identifying key themes in their brand narrative, we also developed a holistic content strategy – focusing on the transformational nature of the project in generating sustainable growth and economic opportunities for local communities and the broader Sierra Leone.

Between initial engagement and a full website launch, Gilligan Group launched an interim holding site to host vital information on the company and its activities and activate the company’s digital presence. The full website – designed to lift the stakeholder experience – featured an interactive location map and custom illustrated project location and ‘timeline to production’ graphics, effectively communicating the company’s progress in a visually compelling manner.

To further enhance the company’s digital presence, Gilligan Group designed and rolled out an engaging social media landscape, which will provide the company with an indispensable digital communication and engagement channel going forward.
