In 2012, Gilligan Group founder Skye Gilligan embarked on a transformative journey to Malawi and Mozambique.
The experience was life-changing – shaping the ethos of Gilligan Group today.
In 2016, Skye founded the Norkama Project to distribute donated educational supplies and basic medical supplies to schools and hospitals in Burkina Faso, West Africa. We partnered with Sarama Resources and Airland Logistics to transport and distribute a 20ft container of supplies and personally went to deliver the items.
Our next shipment in 2022 was double that size – with additional sponsors Macknsons and Rotary of Elizabeth Quay to increase volunteers and awareness of the campaign. To date we have raised more than $150,000 worth of donations, which have reached 26 schools and thousands of students studying outside of Norkama Village, and four CSPS Health Centres and various local Administration Centres.
Developing the brand and verbal identity for Vaka Health Foundation (VHF) was another passion project for Gilligan Group. Winner of the 2022 AAMEG Africa Award for “Best Workforce & Industry Development Initiative”, VHF uses scalable mobile technology to deliver education and technical training to address African healthcare challenges.
Our in-house creatives created a memorable and distinctive brand identity that visually encapsulated the philosophy of VHF. We are deeply inspired by VHF’s impactful work as they transform lives for the better. It’s an honour to contribute to their mission.
The Australia-Africa Minerals & Energy Group, (AAMEG) the peak body for Australians mining in Africa, is one of our long-term clients. In 2019, we supported AAMEG to conceptualise the inaugural Africa Awards. Five years on, the Awards grow and garner more attention, serving as a platform for Australian companies and not-for-profits to showcase their ESG commitment in Africa. We are proud to continue delivering high-quality event coordination and communications support to raise the profile of this organisation and its purpose.
